Preparation Strategy
I started my preparation by getting familiar with the exam format and marking scheme from the Official 'OET ready online course'. I also made important notes side by side , so that they are with me all the time during my preparation.

Then, I started doing self-assessment from the official 'OET practice book'. Initially, my scores in these mock tests were not good, so I quickly realised that I seriously lacked some proper strategies to crack this exam. Therefore, I started watching youtube videos from E2 language academy. These videos provide essential insights about this exam, so I recommend all of you to go through it once. It's available for free.

After that, I started doing mocks again from Kaplan OET guide book. This time, I started scoring the required bands, which gave me a massive boost in my confidence thereafter.

Finally, I found Joseph Priestley sir's scoring strategies in the facebook OET group. He has nicely explained all the methods and strategies required to get 30+ marks in reading and listening. Please go through it as well.

For the speaking subtest, you can practice with your friends from "role-play" card and comment on each other’s performance, keeping in mind all the marking scheme of speaking test outlined by OET 2.0 guidelines. I used to do this online via whatsapp voice call with my other friends preparing for this exam.

For the writing subtest, firstly I overviewed the model answers from the official OET course and Kaplan OET guidebook, then I started observing and analysing benchmark corrected letters and their respective grading. Analysing all these, I created a template of my own and started practising on it.

One last message to all of you is, do NOT panic if you miss a question on listening subtest. Keep your focus on the audio track, or otherwise, you will miss a lot of other questions that follow.

Thank you, everyone, and especially the almighty for his blessings. With the god's grace, I got all the required bands in just fifteen days of preparation time. However, I recommend not to rush. You can dedicate at least one month for this exam or even prepare from an academy with the professionals.

 P.s Those official materials (OET READY ONLINE COURSE) were available for free only during the offer period. Nowadays, I have been told that they are no longer free. However, I would suggest that these materials are worth doing once.

    Hi, thanks for such an informative blog you created. I have booked the test recently and as you said the "oet ready online course" will be provided for free once we book the test, I havent'nt got any such material access, and I even checked with the oet help desk. To my surprice, they are denying it, saying it is not for free.

      Hello doc, thank you for your comments. I have just updated this blog. Fortunately it was the offer period, that i was able to get those materials for free. However i would suggest to go through it once, as they are worth the price too.

    Thankyou so much for helping us. I need a suggestion. I scored Listening(8.5), Reading (8), Writing (7) and Speaking(8) in my IELTS.As I'm applying for foundation programme FY1, recquirement is 7.5 in every section. I'm short of 0.5 in writing. Is it a good idea to jump into OET or shall I resit IELTS.Thanks

      Your situation is different doc. Since you are applying for FY1 training program, let me tell you that UKFPO still doesn't accept OET. I am afraid you have to resit your IELTS exam.
      However, if you are looking for just a 1 year F2 standalone training program by UKFPO, then you can have both option of OET or IELTS. Like IELTS, the requirement for OET is also higher i.e 400 in each band, for such job.

      That must be for FY2 STANDALONE PROGRAM by UKFPO, and not the 2-year UK foundation Program.
